Chad Wiebesick is the first Vice President of Integrated Marketing and Communications for The Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (AAACVB).
Chad has served as the Director of Social Media and Interactive Marketing at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) where he oversaw social media for Pure Michigan since 2011. He was named among the nation’s Top Five Government Social Media Leaders in 2015 and his efforts have led Pure Michigan to become among the world’s Top 10 travel destinations on social media.
“I’ve been fortunate to be a small part of a great team at Pure Michigan and to have helped Pure Michigan become one of the most talked about travel destinations in the world on the social web,” said Wiebesick. “I’m thrilled to now join a talented team and to promote a community I love and live in.”
His work and contributions have earned international recognition in the tourism industry. Chad has spoken worldwide in Australia, Europe, India and North America at numerous conferences such as Social Media Tourism Symposium in Australia, International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators, International Conference on Travel Technology in India, European Digital Tourism Think Tank, and Dreamforce — the world’s largest software conference with 130,000 attendees from 65 countries.
“We have had the pleasure of working with Chad over the years in his role at the MEDC,” said Mary Kerr, President and CEO of the AAACVB. “His experience, knowledge, and leadership will be an amazing contribution to our staff as well as Washtenaw County’s tourism industry.”
Chad is a founding board member of the Social Media Association of Michigan and a past President of the Ann Arbor Ad Club, a chapter of the American Advertising Federation, where under his leadership the organization won Second Place for “National Club Achievement of the Year” for Programs. Chad serves as the first-ever Executive in Residence at Eastern Michigan University’s Center for Digital Engagement.
