From Hollywood to Silicon Valley: The History of Visual Storytelling


Beth Tananhaus Winsten was one of the first professional film makers to embrace digital media and to recognize it as a new medium. This zeitgeist vision developed into tinyBIGPICTUREshows, a new genre designed specifically for smart screens, viral scenes, and global communities & audiences.

 

This talk will cover how visual storytelling has altered to fit the content medium of its time beginning with Hollywood theatrical releases, then television programs for international broadcast, and finally, Web media. The main focus will be how to choose the right style and structure of video to effectively market, brand, pitch & sell in the digital universe.

Beth is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, visual artist, and creator of the trademarked digital genre tinyBIGPICTUREshows. Her work has been broadcast on the National Geographic “Explorer” Series, TBS, PBS, ABC affiliates among others. The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and The Detroit Institute of Arts have showcased her work.

She is the recipient of 4 Emmy Awards, 3 CINE Golden Eagle Awards, 3 TELLY Awards and many more awards recognizing her talent, skill, creativity and originality.
