Flickr is a web site owned by Yahoo! that offers photo sharing and a host of related services for users of any level – beginners to professionals. It’s tremendously easy to use, and when used with friends / associates it can be great fun. The service is also widely used by bloggers as a photo repository. Its popularity has been fueled by its organization tools, which allow photos to be tagged and browsed.
So how does this relate to business? Well, by being a smart and active contributor to the Flickr community, your business (web site) can get indirect marketing exposure via Flickr.
Come join in the discussion, lead by LA2M’s resident serial entrepreneur, Kristen Winter and give your view of Flicker and how / when you might be able to use Flickr to promote business.
Kristen Winter grew up in Northern Michigan where she found her passion for marketing and sales while working in retail. Kristen attended Kettering University and graduated with a Bachelor in Science in Management & Marketing. While in college Kristen was very involved, holding the position of president for several on- campus organizations including Delta Epsilon Chi, a Marketing and Management society. During college Kristen worked at General Motors and learned that the corporate world was not for her, choosing instead entrepreneurship.
Kristen launched her first business, RateMyStudentRental.com with two classmates during her senior year at college. Since graduation Kristen has pursued her own projects/businesses including RateMyStudentRental.com, and sales of green/clean water/waste to energy equipment and processes. Social marketing is fascinating to Kristen, along with other forms of marketing. Kristen feels in today’s world anything goes as far as trying to reach out to a network of people – whether they are “colleagues” or customers, the bolder and more creative the better!
