Entrepreneurial Ecosystem on Campus and how U-M Commercializes Technologies

Ever wanted to know how the entrepreneurial ecosystem has changed on campus over the past several years? Or maybe you’ve wondered, how does U-M commercialize its research, starting companies like Accuri, Compendia, Arbor Networks, and Health Media? Join us October 9th when Wes Huffstutter will be at LA2M to discuss “The Entrepreneurial Ecosystem on Campus and How the University of Michigan Commercializes Technology.

Entrepreneurship has exploded on the University of Michigan campus.  Students are participating in a wide array of activities, many starting companies.  Faculty are reporting more inventions to U-M than at any time in the University’s history. U-M launches, on average, 10 companies a year that have raised over $1B in the last decade. Wes will explore the resources available on campus, the programs that have started over the past several years for students and faculty.  He will also explore how U-M, through the Tech Transfer office, takes research and moves the technologies towards a product and ultimately to a company launch.
